Stoughton Library Hosts Activities for Week of June 1-6

Stoughton Public Library is hosting great events for children of all ages during the week of June 1-6.

The Bookish Buds Reading Club is meeting at Halloran Park on Monday, June 1 at 2:30. If the weather does not cooperate, the meeting will be moved to the library. Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to bring their book and read together. No Registration is required.

Stoughton Public Library’s Young Adult programming and collections is shaped by the library’s Teen Advisory Board. The board will meet Monday evening at 5:30. Attendees are asked to provide ideas and feedback that will make the library a better place for teens. Pizza will be provided, and active participants will receive credit for one hour of community service. Registration is required. The Teen Space will be open Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2:30-4:45. Teens are invited to the space and play video games, board games, and card games. There is also craft supplies for the more creative types. The library’s gaming systems include Nintendo Switch, Wii, PS2, and PS4.

Drop In Chess is at 5:00 on Wednesday evening. Children ages 5-12 are invited to the Children’s Area for an hour of chess matches. Instruction is available for those who want/need it, but children are expected to have a basic understanding of the game.

Teddy Bear Storytime, hosted by Peggy Sewyck will be on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas and bring a stuffed animal.

Storytime at Halloran Park will be on Thursday and Saturday mornings at 10:00. In the event of rain, Storytime will be moved to the library on Thursday, and Saturday’s Storytime will be cancelled.

Drop-in Scrabble is Thursday afternoon from 1:00-4:00. In the Conference Room. No registration is necessary. The Conference Room is located on the top floor.

SPL will collaborate with Pop Up Art School for Minecraft Bobbleheads on Thursday beginning at 2:00. Registration is required. There are currently no open seats, but you are invited to sign up for the waiting list.

Teenagers in grades 6-12 can go to the Community Room for Open Gaming with VR and One Up Games.  Open Gaming starts at 1:00 in the afternoon. Registration is for this activity is required. You can register at this link.

“Manitoba Polar Bears” will be hosted by Bob Gee of the South Shore Camera Club. Bob will feature photos and stories of his trip to Manitoba. This exciting, informative presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. Registration for the event is required.
